How has media impacted our lives?

Media plays a very crucial role in our lives. It helps to inform its users about our surroundings and the media has greatly shaped our insight and our outlook in changing our perceptions. Like any other, the media as well has its side effects.

The media and violence. In an article it depicts the correlation which exist between violence and the media. “Studies have suggested that the exposure to violence on television, movies and video games make the children more aggressive, fearful, less trusting and more accepting of violence. This does not mean that they will start bringing weapons in the school but they will be more aggressive and less trusting towards their friends, teachers and siblings. Some of them may carry out same violent act that they see in the violent programs and eventually become more disposed to commit acts of violence” (Let’s find out). Also the media as past histories have shown has resulted in being the cause of accidents and murder.  At the same time, when kids are exposed to adult-content their minds don’t adapt very well and they turn these shows to reality when it comes to home, school, friends, families, etc. The ads also have the impact of brain-washing the minds of the youth.

There’s also a positive outlook we may also explore about the media. It has become very easy to know and beware of what’s going on in the world around us, in a matter of minutes. The media also becomes a tool in educating the masses. At the same time, be a major tool in covering material like the weather, advertisements, and traffic.
